Los Angeles Hypocrites – Watts Up?

with 4 comments

If the morons in Los Angeles had their way, they would buy nothing from Arizona. I support that to a degree, as long as when the LA cretins give up buying electrical power from Arizona they don’t go North looking to take mine.

Commissioner Gary Pierce of the Arizona Corporation Commission wrote a letter to Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa of Los Angeles.

A scanned copy of the letter can be found here.

The letter is as follows:

Dear Mayor Villaraigosa,
I was dismayed to learn that the Los Angeles City Council voted to boycott Arizona and Arizona-based companies — a vote you strongly supported — to show opposition to SB 1070 (Support our Law Enforcement and Safe Neighborhoods Act).
You explained your support of the boycott as follows: “While we recognize that as neighbors, we share resources and ties with the State of Arizona that may be difficult to sever, our goal is not to hurt the local economy of Los Angeles, but to impact the economy of Arizona.  Our intent is to use our dollars — or the withholding of our dollars — to send a message.” (emphasis added)
I received your message; please receive mine.  As a state-wide elected member of the Arizona Corporation Commission overseeing Arizona’s electric and water utilities, I too am keenly aware of the “resources and ties” we share with the City of Los Angeles. In fact, approximately twenty-five percent of the electricity consumed in Los Angeles is generated by power plants in Arizona.
If an economic boycott is truly what you desire, I will be happy to encourage Arizona utilities to renegotiate your power agreements so Los Angeles no longer receives any power from Arizona-based generation. I am confident that Arizona’s utilities would be happy to take those electrons off your hands. If, however, you find that the City Council lacks the strength of its convictions to turn off the lights in Los Angeles and boycott Arizona power, please reconsider the wisdom of attempting to harm Arizona’s economy.
People of goodwill can disagree over the merits of SB 1070. A state-wide economic boycott of Arizona is not a message sent in goodwill.
Commissioner Gary Pierce
When the lights go out and the Illegal Immigrants can’t find their way to the welfare office, the hospital emergency room and the day labor pools Mayor Villaraigosa could find himself in deep electoral trouble. Sort of like one of those damned if he does, and damned if he doesn’t thingies.
I love it.
The Leftoidal Pinko Commie Revolutionaries are always goggle eyed and irritated about another perceived social injustice in need of a Communist/Socialist/Marxist remedy.
Maybe they can figure out how to rub two brasseros (mexican farmworkers) together to keep the lights on after the Arizona Electrical Boycott is a reality?
I hope not though, let them live in the dark, like they do in parts of Mexico where the Government hasn’t taken trouble to bring the infrastructure into the 19th century with “power to the people”

  1. And such a stink this has caused. Of course the media immediately screwed up the story to say that Arizona was “threatening” to cut off power to L.A. – but they never let truth and facts get in the way of a good story.

    • The Leftist morons are always trying to self destruct and the Leftist Media always presents those attempts as a Glory Road. Let LA go which ever way it wants, it’s a mess anyway.

  2. People are still stupid enough to believe that the media is liberal? No wonder greedy conservatives control this country more than ever.

    • Question: Have you been paying attention to the Sycophantic Press offerings regarding the past few years with special attention needing to be given to the Liberal Press adoration of the Chosen One living at 1600 Penn. Ave?
Is the American press not yet liberal enough for you?
